Kenny Mortimer

Director of Product Design at Smule

Fitness, sports, streaming, and now music. Over a decade designing products where the interface has to get out of the way of the thing people actually showed up to do: riding, watching, singing. Zwift, NBC Peacock, Dunkin’, BrightFit, and now Smule, where I’m rebuilding how design gets made around AI-accelerated workflows.

How I work now

A decade of shipping user-centered products taught me the craft. The last two years taught me how much of the surrounding process was scaffolding. Now I’m pulling out the parts that no longer earn their place: weeks of exploration compressed into days, working prototypes instead of static mockups, designers shipping closer to the thing that actually goes live.
